KOCHI: The Escotel Mobile Communications Ltd (Escotel) has introduced a new scheme `Right Plan' for its post-paid customers in Kerala with lowest ever-flat airtime rate of just Rs 2 per minute.

Besides, as a special summer offer for the new smartfone subscribers, `Happy hours plan' would be offered without monthly membership fee for three months, an official press release here said. A new smartfone connection with all these facilities would cost only Rs 1,260.

However, the refundable security deposit of Rs 1,000 would be extra, it said. Announcing the new tariffs, Mr V.G. Somasekhar, Chief Operating Officer, Escotel, said that the company's mission was to make cellular telephony a common means of communication.

The new plan, he said, would make cellular telephony more affordable, enabling more and more people to go cellular. He said that Escotel, in addition to its current operations in Kerala, Uttar Pradesh (West) and Haryana, would be launching its services in Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh (East) soon. Currently, it covered 164 towns, highway coverage in 77 towns and 3,000 villages in the States of its operations, he added. —
