Karnataka: Drive to regularise power supply

BANGALORE: As many as 1,05,965 power connections have been regularised so far under a special drive launched by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation (KPTCL).

The regularisation drive, by way of one-time settlement, launched on March 11, had gained momentum after an initial lukewarm response, according to sources. Domestic lighting connections accounted for the highest number of regularisation with 93,894 mostly situated in slum areas.

KPTCL, however, could make very little inroads into the unauthorised irrigation pumpset owners, who number more than 2 lakh. The response from them had not been encouraging as only 5,348 such pumpsets were regularised, sources said.
