`Keep textile drawback at realistic levels'

NEW DELHI, March 22

THE Textile Ministry has set a $15 billion export target for textile and clothing product for 2002-03 at a review meeting held under the chairmanship of the Union Textile Minister, Mr Kashiram Rana.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Textile Mr Dhananjay Kumar, the chairmen and chief executives of the nine textile export promotion councils, Jute Manufacturers Development Council and Coir Board and the senior officers of the Department of Commerce, the DGFT, Drawback Division of the Revenue Department, an official release said.

Trade members urged the Textile Minister for his intervention in getting the DEPB/drawback rates fixed at realistic levels and in getting the facility of import of additional textile machinery items at a concessional rate.
