Seafoods top exports through Kochi port

KOCHI, Dec. 2

SEAFOODS continue to dominate the exports through the Cochin Port Trust in October this year compared to the previous month.

As per the figures available with the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the export of seafood through the port stood at 14,050 tonnes during October as against 10,412 tonnes in September. The export of cashew had also gone up to 6,059 tonnes in October, against 5,227 tonnes in the previous month.

However, there was a drop in the export of tea in October. As against 12,679 tonnes in September, the export of tea stood at 10,349 tonnes.

The export of coir products had also shown a decline from 5,002 tonnes to 4,440 tonnes in October.

Meanwhile, imports of various commodities such as raw cashew, palmolein, tea, pepper, frozen shrimps stood at 20,840 tonnes in October as against 61,725 tonnes in September.
