Textile Machinery Powerloom body to become market-savvy Our Bureau
COIMBATORE, Dec. 30 THE Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXIL) will seek greater market access to products manufactured by the decentralised sector. The thrust will be on upgrading the product quality and branding of heritage textiles globally. The council has also chalked out a course of action towards creating a design resource in collaboration with renowned designers to help the weavers, according to Mr M. Senthil Kumar, who has assumed office as the new chairman of the council. As part of its market-making efforts for the powerloom products, the council has planned to depute a delegation to Germany, Italy and Spain next month. It will also participate in the Heimtextil fair in Frankfurt, Germany and the Textil Hogar fair in Spain next month, said Mr Senthil Kumar. The council's priority under his leadership would be on conversion of plain looms into semi-automatic and promoting installation of more new automatic and shuttleless looms by taking advantage of the schemes like the technology upgradation fund (TUF).
