Petrol pumps may go dry on Monday

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Feb. 22

CONSUMERS may not be able to fuel their vehicles on Monday. This follows the petrol pump owners' plans to go on a one-day strike against the harassment by public sector oil marketing companies on grounds of sale of adulterated fuel.

The Federation of All India Petroleum Traders, in a statement, has alleged that adulteration of petro-products takes place in transit, between the refinery and the fuel stations. If products from the petrol pumps are tested for octane number, boiling point and corrison, which define the quality of fuel, the oil companies too have to show the quality during the delivery, the statement adds. According to Mr Ashok Badhwar, President of the federation, petrol pump dealers should not be penalised for adulteration if their tank seals are intact.
