IPR Morepen files process patent for desloratadine Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, March 6 THE Rs 530-crore Morepen Laboratories Ltd has filed an international process patent for the allergy drug desloratadine in the US, targeting a $500-million market. The company had been selling the generic version of Schering Plough Corp's drug branded Clarinex in India and plans to file an application with the Food and Drug Administration to sell the active ingredient, or the bulk form of the drug, in the US, it said in a communiqué issued here. The company has already started selling bulk drug loratadine, the generic version of Schering Plough's claritin, to companies in the US, since October 2002 and expects to get $21 million from the sale of the drug in six months.
