Syndicate Bank to fund solar lighting projects

BANGALORE, March 6

SYNDICATE Bank has offered funding for solar lighting projects in the country. It has set a target of 20,000 solar units to be funded during this fiscal.

Syndicate Bank is the second public sector bank to offer funding for solar lighting projects after Canara Bank. This funding programme is being taken up in association with the United Nations Environment Programme and the Shell Foundation, for home lighting purposes.

The bank has already provided funding for solar home lighting programmes in Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka, according to Mr Michael Bastin, Chairman and Managing Director of Syndicate Bank.
