Telecommunications Tata Tele eyes `rest of Maharashtra' Our Bureau
MUMBAI: Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) has announced that it would be intensifying its focus on the "rest of Maharashtra'' (besides Mumbai), in an attempt to tap the promising demand in the market. The company would be launching its CDMA mobile services in Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Nashik in the next two months, said a news release. It also said that it planned to increase the share of revenues coming from the rest of Maharashtra from the current 15 per cent to 30 per cent of total revenues. Mr Ajay Pandey, COO, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), said the rest of Maharashtra region had tremendous potential to grow in terms of teledensity. The company is setting up village public telephones and is looking at providing connectivity to 2,000 villages in Maharashtra by March 31. The company has already launched its services under the new brand Tata Indicom. It recorded revenues of over Rs 276 crore during 2001-2002.
