Mastek begins BPO operations

Our Bureau

MUMBAI: Mastek Ltd has announced that it is commencing its business process outsourcing (BPO) operations through a wholly owned subsidiary, Mastek BPO Ltd.

The new company will have an authorised capital base of Rs 10 crore. The decision was taken at the company's board meeting held here on Thursday.

"The company is being set up primarily to service our existing clients. The focus will be on transaction processing work with some component of voice-centric work,'' said a spokesperson of the company.

"The senior management team and facility are already in place,'' the spokesperson added.

According to a company release, Mr V. Srinivas is the advisor for the company's BPO operations and will be responsible for setting up operational facilities and growing new line of business.

This development comes after the company's board decided to foray into the BPO arena at a meeting held on January 13, 2003.

Mastek is Rs 293-crore application outsourcing company with customers in the US, UK, Japan and Asia-Pacific; in fact, one of its largest clients is the UK-based outsourcing company, Capita.
