Rubber firm on sparse supply

Our Correspondent

KOTTAYAM, March 7

RUBBER prices continued to firm up as arrivals were sparse.

Traders were on the run for cornering available rubber as supply continued to be thin.

The continuing dry spell has forced many plantations to suspend the resumed tapping. The international market improved further to the equivalent of Rs 48.60 per kg, influencing the uptrend in India. The tyre sector has not revised their offer rate of Rs 43 per kg for RSS 4.

The general rubber goods sector continued to be active in the market which sent the market of ungraded rubber rising to new height.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 firmed up to Rs 45 per kg on Friday from Rs 44.25 a kg, RSS 5 to Rs 43.50 from Rs 43, ISNR 20 to Rs 43 from Rs 42.75 and ungraded rubber to Rs 43 from Rs 42.25 as on Thursday. Latex concentrate remained flat at Rs 33 per kg.
