New Projects Kedia Info plans Rs 8-cr smartcard plant Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, March 7 KEDIA Infotech Ltd., a Hyderabad-based software services company, has announced its plans to establish a Rs 8-crore smartcard manufacturing plant at Uppal near here. The proposed plant, which will be part of the Rs110-crore Kedia group of companies, will have a capacity to produce 10 million smartcards a year. These smart cards will enable users such as the Government and corporations to leverage biometrics-based solutions. The Chief Executive Officer of Kedia Infotech, Mr Ashok Kumar Kedia, said " our mission is to create a reliable infrastructure by integrating and coordinating business process to help end-user. These smartcards supported by magnetic strip readers can be used for various applications such as ATM cards, prepaid phone cards, provisional stores as also clubs where loyalty is to be built." To support the launch of smartcard-based solutions, the software division of the company has developed a biometric access control and time attendance system, which has a built-in contactless reader and in-built Ethernet connection. This also supports fingerprints based user identification and can be customised for specific applications. Backed by a storage capacity of 20,000 even log records, this supports up to three fingerprints for each user ID, and supports several protocols. These smartcards will have 8-bit, 16 mhz micro-controller and 16 bit flash memory, according to a company communiqué. The company's another product, e-Tran DigiCash expenditure solution, enables companies to link their business to customers.
