Budget pushes two-wheeler prices up
Neha Kaushik
NEW DELHI, March 7
THE imposition of a one per cent national calamity duty announced in the Union Budget on two-wheelers, has resulted in many manufacturers bringing about a marginal upward revision of prices in two-wheelers. Several two-wheeler manufacturers have already increased prices across their product range, while others are currently in the process of doing so.
Bajaj Auto, for instance, has increased the prices of its bikes by about Rs 300 to Rs 500. "This is following the imposition of the one per cent duty in this year's Budget," Mr R.L. Ravichandran, Vice-President, Business Development & Marketing, Bajaj Auto Ltd, said.
Kinetic Engineering, too has increased the prices of its motorcycles, scooters and mopeds accordingly. For motorcycles, the increase has been in the range of about Rs 230 to Rs 510.
LML is currently in the process of working out price increases across its models, which is likely to be finalised by Saturday.
