MANGALORE, March 7

TO mark occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, Syndicate Bank has announced that it will be waiving service charges on fresh vehicle and consumer durable loans taken by women under the `Synd Vahan' and `Synd Suvidha' schemes. The waiver scheme will be effective from March 8 to March 31.

According to a press release issued here today, the bank will also be offering concessional interest rates of 0.50 percentage points below the applicable rates on fresh loans taken by women under both these schemes during this period.

The bank has deployed Rs 508 crore of its outstanding credit in loans and advances to women as of March 2002, accounting for around 4.23 per cent of its net credit, which is 1.23 per cent higher than the 3 per cent indicative benchmark recommended by the Government, according to the press release.
