NEW DELHI, March 7

BG Group Plc today announced plans for its investments and operations in India. The BG board, led by the Chairman, Sir Richard Giordano, has been in India with members of the executive team since March 1 and has had discussions with Government representatives and partner companies.

"India is one of the six core areas for the Group and we are committed to growing our investments here. By working closely with our business partners in India, we hope to identify more areas of co-operation and contribute to the growth of the oil and gas sector," Mr Giordano said. Members of the board and group executive reviewed BG India's business operations and explored additional investment opportunities. BG plans to increase its investments from $500 million to about $1 billion over the next 3-5 years.
