FAPCCI plans `Asia-Africa meet'

HYDERABAD, March 14

THE Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) proposes to organise an `Asia-Africa Summit' here in November.

Stating this, the President of the Chambers, Mr Omprakash Tibrewala, requested and cooperation and guidance of the South African High Commissioner in India, Ms Maite E. Mashabane.

Speaking at a meeting organised by the Chambers, Mr Tibrewala said the investor-friendly initiatives taken by the Andhra Pradesh Government have resulted in development in sectors such as information technology (IT), biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, tourism, etc. with the participation of the private sector.

In her presentation, Ms Mashabane highlighted the investment and business opportunities available for Indian business men in South Africa, especially in the areas of infrastructure, tourism, drugs and pharma, agro industries and small-scale industries.

The special fund created for the programme, `Focus Africa', by the Centre would help enhance exports in various sectors. There was also scope for exports of food and processed food products mainly fresh fruits, vegetables and fruit juices.
