Hyundai begins Santro exports to Colombia

CHENNAI, March 14

HYUNDAI Motor India Ltd has commenced exports of the Santro to Colombia with a consignment of 650 cars.

This is part of the company's efforts to increase its exports to 25,000 units this year against the 8,245 units it exported in 2002, and its intent to make India a global export hub, according to a company press release.

The release said the additional volumes would come primarily from exports to destinations in Western Europe and America. Hitherto, Algeria, Morocco, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Indonesia were some of the biggest export markets for Hyundai Motor India.

The Santro, also known as the Atos Prime and Amica in global markets, was being exported to Western Europe and America from South Korea. Hyundai Motor India recently completed a capacity expansion programme to meet the increase in exports and had put in place testing facilities that conformed to the advanced requirements in these countries, the release said.
