As a part of this, the ICFAI University has announced the launch of the bachelor of education (B.Ed.) programme for students interested in pursuing teaching careers.

HYDERABAD, March 20

HAVING tasted success in training management teachers in the recent past, the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University has this time decided to take up some sort of backward integration and enter the field of training the teachers of English medium schools in the private sector across the country.

As a part of this, the ICFAI University has announced the launch of the bachelor of education (B.Ed.) programme for students interested in pursuing teaching careers.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, the Senior Manager of the University's Campus Programmes Admissions Department, Mr Vedantam Ravi, said the ICFAI College of Education (ICE) was set up aimed at developing a new cadre of teachers interested in teaching and research through a rigorous campus-based full-time B.Ed programme.

With ICFAI being recently declared a University by the Government of Chattisgarh, it can now confer degrees at bachelor, master and doctoral levels, Mr Ravi said.

Stating that ICE has decided to operate independently outside the provisions of the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993, Mr Ravi said.

Hence the students graduating from ICE cannot seek employment in Government schools and would have to seek employment opportunities in unaided private schools in India and abroad.

According to Mr Ravi, the curriculum, pedagogy and evaluation systems adopted by ICE were similar to those used in the typical Colleges of Education in the United States.

The programme would emphasise on development of domain knowledge, teaching skills, information technology skills and soft skills, he said.
