Rubber crashes on war fears

Our Correspondent

KOTTAYAM, March 20

RUBBER price crashed as war fears gripped the market. No major buyer was present in the market.

At the same time, there were many sellers offering their produce at a lower price. However, in the absence of buyers, no transaction took place. Continuing rains have further brightened the prospects of better crop collection. Traders were not eager to buy any quantum in the absence of buying orders from the tyre and non-tyre sectors.

According to market circles, the prospects are not bright, especially since the international market is also coming down. World prices moved down on Thursday to Rs.50.85 from Rs.51.04 per kg.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 declined to Rs 44.25 per kg on Thursday from Rs 45.25 and RSS 5 to Rs 43 from Rs 44. Ungraded rubber slipped to Rs 42 from Rs 43, ISNR 20 to Rs 43 from Rs 44 and latex concentrate to Rs 31.50 from Rs 32 on Wednesday.
