KOCHI, March 20

FIAT India Pvt Ltd launched its new Palio Diesel and the Adventure Diesel in the Kerala market here on Thursday.

Kerala is an important market for the company in South India as it had an 8 per cent market share in the B segment category. Last year, the company had sold around 1,500 cars in the State and put a target of 2,000 cars this calendar year, Mr A.M.Gupta, Commercial Director of Fiat India, told a press conference.

"The Palio Diesel and Adventure Diesel will widen our product offering in the diesel segment of the market," he added.

Mr Gupta also clarified that the company had no plans to discontinue the Uno and it will receive complete support from Fiat and its dealership network. It is a sturdy, comfortable, dependable and spacious car that has a loyal set of customers in the market. At present, the company sells around 200 Uno cars per month and the car is still popular in the South. There are plans to actively promote this vehicle with a clear marketing strategy, he said.

Mr Ravi Bharadwaj, General Manager (Sales and Marketing) said that in order to reach out to and serve customers better, Fiat dealerships had been increased from 52 to 67 and will soon reach the target of 78. In addition, Fiat has over 100 service points operating across the country, which it plans to increase to 120 by the end of the year.

The recent `Free Expert Check-up' service campaign for Fiat cars conducted across the country is a step in the right direction that underlines the company's renewed focus on after sales service. More such events will be offered through the dealer network to ensure customer satisfaction, he added.
