NEW DELHI, March 26

IT's back. Popstars, Channel [V]'s nationwide hunt for pop stars which resulted in the formation of the all-girl VIVA pop band last year, has announced the second popstars hunt.

This time, however, the hunt will be different. This year's popstar hunt will include both men and women. Auditions will be conducted across Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

Addressing reporters at the launch of the Popstars 2 hunt here on Wenesday, Mr Keertan Adyanthaya, Vice-President, content and communication, Star India Ltd, said, "The Popstars 2 hunt will follow the same format as last year. However, the panel of judges will include established pop stars Mehnaaz and Palaash Sen. We are also in the process of tying up with other judges from the entertainment industry."

This time around too, soft drinks major Coca-Cola will be the title sponsor for the event. Fa and Clearasil are the associate sponsors for the event, and according to a Star official, the channel will sign up with another three sponsors within the next one week.

Commenting to whether Channel [V] would continue to associate itself with the VIVA band, Mr Adyanthaya replied in the affirmative. "We will be associated with the VIVA band, and assist them in all possible ways," he said. According to Mr Adyanthaya, VIVA's album sales last year have crossed five lakh units.
