Standards & Benchmarks Mico recalls Bosch saws Our Bureau
BANGALORE, March 26 THE power tool division of Mico on Wednesday announced that it has recalled the cut-off saws of the Bosch brand sold since 2002 to various customers as it had a small technical flaw. The company had sold about 600 such saws, used by plumbers and ironsmiths for cutting small steel pieces. It has decided to refund the cost of the tool. Though no major complaint has been received from any customer, the company decided to issue the recall appeal as it found some inconsistency in the quality of the tool, a company spokesman said. He added that the reason for withdrawing the GCO 14-2 cut-off saw was because of possibility of a breakage of the fixing arm during use. The quality problem has been identified as an irregular casting process. According to the spokesman, though there was no immediate plan to replace the tool, the company was planning to come out with an improved version. The company has asked the customers to return the tools to their dealer or to Bosch's regional office for a full refund of about Rs 15,000.
