VSNL announces VRS; scheme opens on May 15

MUMBAI, May 9

VIDESH Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) today announced a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for its employees, which will open on May 15 and close on July 14.

This scheme is for employees who have attained 40 years of age and have rendered 10 years of services in VSNL.

In a notification to the BSE, the company said that the objective of the scheme is to rationalise manpower in line with current business scenario and provide financial support to employees who are willing to explore other avenues after separation.

The company currently employs about 3,000 people and is looking to downsize half of it.
