NEW DELHI, May 27 AIR SAHARA, which has launched 16 new fights during this month, plans to start a daily flight with a Boeing 737 aircraft on the Mumbai-Kochi sector from June 6. The airlines Chief Executive Officer, Mr Uttam Kumar Bose, told newspersons that the start of the new service will provide immediate connections to passengers from Delhi wanting to travel to Kochi. "Besides, we are also examining the option of launching a direct flight between Delhi and Kochi. We plan to operate the smaller Canadian Regional Jet (CRJ) aircraft on this new route. It will cut down the flying time between the two cities by about one-and-a-half hours," Mr Bose said. The airline, which is taking two Boeing 737-700 and two CRJ aircraft on lease next month, plans to launch flights on several new routes, including offering a connection both in the morning and evening between Delhi and Bhubaneshwar. At present, the airline offers 8,910 seats a day of which about 65 per cent are being utilised, officials indicated. Meanwhile, the airline has introduced free travel for a companion under the `Twin sixer scheme'. Passengers can purchase the `Twin sixer' package for Rs 46,000 and it allows one companion to travel free for each of the six travel coupons purchased. The other schemes launched include the Long Haul scheme, which is priced at Rs 40,000. A passenger availing of this scheme can purchase three return tickets on select sectors and take a companion along for two return flights. Similarly, in the `Pan India' scheme, which is valued at Rs 58,000, for three return tickets a passenger can avail of one business class return ticket and one economy class return ticket for a companion. Officials indicated that the various schemes offered a discount of 40 per cent on the Delhi-Mumbai sector and a discount ranging from 65 to 60 per cent on the Delhi-Chennai or Delhi-Bangalore sector from what was being offered by the competing airlines.
