Special domestic fares from Air India

MUMBAI, May 27

AIR India on Tuesday announced special fares for the domestic sector. Under the new fare structure, effective May 27, fares on flights departing between 8.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m. are now five per cent lower than the Apex fares offered by other domestic carriers. The special night fares on flights departing between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. will now be 15 per cent lower.

The fare on a day flight on the Mumbai-Delhi sector will be priced at Rs 3,995 against Rs 4,944. The fare on a night flight is now Rs 3,645 (Rs 4,527), according to an airline spokesperson.

On the Mumbai-Chennai sector, the fare for a day flight is priced at Rs 3,326 (Rs 4,089), and for a night flight at Rs 3,042 (Rs 3,757). On the Mumbai-Kolkata sector, day flight is priced at Rs 4,076 (Rs 5,551) and the night fare at Rs 3,718 (Rs 5,073). On the Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram sector, the fare for a day flight is priced at Rs 3,901 (Rs 5,435) and for a night flight at Rs 3,560 (Rs 4,968).

According to the airline, the new night fare works out to 10 per cent lower than the special day fare. The tickets sold for the new special fares do not have to be bought in advance. The cancellation charges for special night fares have been kept at Rs 100.

The number of seats allocated for these fares is nearly 80 per cent of the capacity and are not restricted as in the case of domestic carriers, the airline said.
