Channels and Franchises States - Andhra Pradesh Royal Enfield store in Vizag
Our Bureau Visakhapatnam, Aug. 24 Royal Enfield is planning to sell 40,000 motorcycles in the current financial year, including export of 3,600 vehicles or so, according to Mr Anupam Thareja, Director. In 2006-2007, the company sold 33,000 vehicles. He told newspersons here on Friday after the inauguration of Royal Enfield special store that “it is one of the oldest surviving motorcycling brands and has certain distinctive features which have appeal to customers both in India and abroad. We have a niche market and we are setting up these special stores to make the customers experience those features.” Mr Thareja said the company had so far set up nine such stores, including the one in Vizag and one more in Hyderabad, and “we plan to add a few more such stores.” Few variants
He said the company was selling five models, with a few variants, and one more model would be introduced in September. He added that “the southern region, with its growing IT sector and industrial infrastructure, was an important market for the company and a growing city such as Vizag is of special relevance.” Mr Thareja said the brand loyalty was so strong that customers were willing to wait for sometime to get the vehicles in these days and “ours is the only company having a wait list. We have a manufacturing plant in Chennai, with an annual production capacity of 40,000 vehicles.” The price range is from Rs 76,000 to Rs 1,05,000. The company has a tie-up with the ICICI Bank to arrange easy finance for the customers. He said the vehicles were complying with Euro III emission norms and “we are exporting to the developed markets and not the Asian markets.”
