New Projects Honda Siel plans second small car Our Bureau Kolkata, Oct. 16 Honda Siel Cars India Ltd plans to launch a second small car in India within a span of three to four years, Mr Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President-Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India, said here. “We are designing another hatch back which will be slightly smaller than the Jazz and will be placed in the B, B+ segment. It will be designed keeping in mind the Indian audience,” Mr Sen said. The price of the car would also be lower than that of the Jazz, he added. The company plans to roll out the premium small car ‘Jazz’ by June-July 2009. “Jazz will be initially rolled out from our Greater Noida factory and, in the second phase, we will move it to our production base in Rajasthan,” he said. Jazz would have an import content of about 27-28 per cent, he said. Honda’s Greater Noida factory has a production capacity of one-lakh units a annum, Mr Sen pointed out. The company would make an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore for the Rajasthan factory, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2009. The recent credit squeeze and the difficulty in availing loans have affected the vehicle sales to a great extent, Mr Sen pointed out.
