New Delhi, Oct. 16 General Motors India hopes to grow at 20 per cent in the second half of the fiscal, following the increased capacity at its new plant in Talegaon in Maharastra.

“In the first half of the fiscal, we grew at 10 per cent. With additional capacity to produce our models, we should be able to grow at 20 per cent in the second half of the fiscal,” said Mr Ankush Arora, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, General Motors India, at the sidelines of the launch of Aveo-U-VA variant.

He said that till now the production capacity of Spark was a major constraint in ramping up sales. “ But now we will be able to produce 4,000 units of Spark which will help us lift our sales,” said Mr Arora.

The company’s Vice-President (Corporate Affairs), Mr P. Balendran, said, “The launch of new models and variants will help us achieve the market share we are aiming at by 2010.”

The new variant of Aveo U-VA will be sold from Rs 3.98 lakh to Rs 5.4 lakh and offers additional features, including a driver airbag, keyless entry with burglar alarm for improved vehicle security amongst others.
