Feeder service to Mundra port

Kolkata, May 13

Maersk Line has declared Mundra port as the point of acceptance of export cargoes from Gujarat and Rajasthan. Accordingly, a feeder service has been launched between Mundra port and Pipavav port, says a press release issued by the shipping line. It might be noted that Maersk had earlier declared Kandla and Pipavav ports as points of acceptance. Mundra will be currently served by a weekly feeder service to Pipavav every Sunday with onward connections to Maersk's mainline services, MEI to Europe and ME3 to Mediterranean and West Asia.

Accordingly, the first feeder vessel, m.v. OEL Shreyas, from Mundra arrived at Pipavav last Sunday. The rotation would be Mundra- Pipavav-Kochi-Tuticorin-Kandla. Maersk's move to launch feeder service to Mundra has been prompted by its recent enhancement of ME3 service which now has Pipavav as a port of call, thus, not only expanding the line's coverage to and from north and northwest India but also providing Pipavav as an alternate gateway on the west coast. - Our Bureau
