Commodities Turmeric, jeera prices up on stockist buying NEW DELHI: Turmeric and jeera prices rose Rs 300 each per quintal in the national capital on Saturday on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters amid firming trend in futures trade. Tight stocks position following fall in supplies from producing belts also influenced the prices. Turmeric prices rose Rs 300 to Rs 13,400-15,300 per quintal on heavy buying by stockists. Jeera common and jeera best quality increased by Rs 300 each to Rs 12,200-12,700 and Rs 14,800-15,300 per quintal on encouraging advices from Unjha in Gujarat. Traders said increased buying by stockists and rising exporters mainly pushed up select spice prices at the wholesale market here. They said fall in supplies from producing belts and firming trend in spices at futures market too aided trading sentiments to improve. Following are Saturday’s quotations (in Rs per quintal): Ajwain 8,000-11,500, black pepper common 16,800-16,900, betelnut (kg) 85-100, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 295-300 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 320-365. Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 60 0-710, cardamom (colour robin) 740-750, cardamom bold 750-765, cardamom extra (bold) 770-790 and cloves (kg) 300-325. — PTI
