Almond falls on subdued demand

NEW DELHI: Almond prices on Saturday drifted by Rs 100 a kg in the national capital owing to subdued demand against increased arrivals from overseas markets.

Weak trend in futures trading also put some pressure on the prices. Almond (California) prices declined by 100 to settle at Rs 9,700 per 40 kg, while its kernel fell by Rs 5 to settle at Rs 335-340 a kg.

Traders attributed fall in almond prices to increased supplies against sluggish demand at prevailing levels. Following are today's quotations per 40 kg: Almond (California) new Rs 9,700, Almond (gurbandi-new) Rs 4,800-4,900 almond (girdhi) Rs 2,800-2,900 and Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-14,000.

Almond kernel in per kg (California) Rs 335-340, almond kernel (gurbandi-new) (kg) Rs 300-370. - PTI
