Nimbus plans to launch two channels

NEW DELHI, Feb. 25
NIMBUS Creative Corporation Pvt Ltd is planning to launch two broadcast channels and is also looking at extensive sports programming plans with its 50:50 joint venture with World Sports Group. Both the sides will initially invest $1 million each in the n
ew venture.
The company is currently engaged in television production and media marketing, and aims at establishing its presence in broadcasting with the launch of the two channels.
The first channel, called Showbiz TV, is slated for launch in June and will focus on cinema-related entertainment, programmes and news.
An official release said that it will also explore live chat shows and game shows related to cricket. Nimbus plans to launch its second channel in October, which will seek to tap women viewership.
Meanwhile, the company is close to sealing an agreement with Sun TV for utilising the spare satellite transponder capacity on Intelsat 703 after the latter goes digital.
The deal involves Sun TV handling the up-linking and transmission chain from Chennai, while negotiations are on with Sony Entertainment Television and Modi Entertainment Network for distribution of the two Nimbus channels.
The Nimbus group primarily consists of three companies including Nimbus Creative Corporation Ltd, Nimbus Communications Ltd and Nimbus Online Ltd.
