ObjectOne deal with Technikon

HYDERABAD, Feb. 25

OBJECTONE Information Technology Ltd, a Hyderabad-based computer training and software development company, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Technikon Natal, an educational institution in South Africa with over 8,000 students.

The Managing Director of ObjectOne, Mr. K. Ravi Shanker, said through this agreement the company would design, develop and update leading edge software training programmes for the South African institute whose Chancellor is the President of South Africa, Mr. Thabo Mbeki.

Under the five-year arrangement, ObjectOne would offer training programmes to students, professionals and corporate houses. The long-term objective was to bring in expertise from around the world and develop skills locally, create work opportunities and build a pool of highly-qualified software professionals, Mr. Ravi Shanker said. The company's South African agreement is worth 24 million rand (Rs. 16.80 crores).

Technikon Natal will give accreditation to the courses and programmes, provide infrastructure facilities, advertise and handle marketing of the courses, the Executive Director, ObjectOne, Mr. C. Somasekhar said.

Viswa Consulting Services (VCS) Inc, based at Atlanta, US, the flagship company of ObjectOne, which focuses on ERP implementation, has so far implemented six projects. VCS holds about 20 per cent of ObjectOne.

ObjectOne operates through its three strategic business units _ computer consultancy division, supplemental services division and training division.

Besides, the company is working on a Telugu portal, including chat facility, expected to be operational in a month. It would enable those who cannot key in Telugu to type in English what they would like to say in Telugu. This gets translated to Telugu, a ccording to Mr. Somasekhar.

``Simultaneously, we are working on orderware supply chain management system, a tender transaction processing system, and providing object proxy servers,'' Mr. Somasekhar said.
