In India, too, he said, the Matsushita Group will like to be the pioneer in the field of digitalisation.
National Panasonic India Ltd and Matsushita Television and Audio India Ltd, MEI's two subsidiaries in the audio-visual industry, will soon launch quality digital products in India.
The company which has sold 200 million TV sets across the world has a market share of 10 million sets a year. This accounted for 10 per cent of the market-share, Mr. Gurdeep Singh, Director for marketing, sales and services, said.
He said the company hoped to sell 2,40,000 TV sets in the Indian market during next year, accounting for 5 per cent of the total market share. Plans are also on to enhance its position in the washing machines segment to between 5 and 8 per cent by sellin
