Globsyn Technologies unveils Rs 37-cr expansion plan

NEW DELHI, March 7
GLOBSYN Technologies Ltd (GTL) has announced a two-phased expansion plan envisaging a total investment of Rs. 37 crores and setting up new `TechnoCampus' centres across the country and abroad.
According to Mr. Bikram Dasgupta, Chairman of GTL, the company would raise part of the proposed investment from internal accruals and the rest through venture capital funding over a period of 3-9 months.
While an investment of Rs. 12 crores would be made in the next three months, the balance of Rs. 25 crores would go towards the second phase of expansion, Mr. Dasgupta said.
Globsyn's Plan 2000 envisages creating a sound foundation of software skills to enhancing software capabilities through e-services and extending a catalyst role by creating enablers comprising Web initiatives.
Expansion of existing areas of businesses, such as the TechnoCampus initiatives, and entering new businesses such as Net learning and setting up a knowledge portal were the other plans, Mr. Dasgupta said.
Under its initiative of setting up the foundation for knowledge infrastructure, the company will expand its existing services by adding nine new TechnoCampus centres across the country. Four of these centres, located at New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and B
hubaneshwar became operational on Tuesday.
Globsyn's flagship TechnoCampus at Calcutta would now act as the research hub for the growing network of the TechnoCampus centres, Mr. Dasgupta said.
Besides, the company is also planning to set up four such centres in Korea, Dubai, Malaysia and Bangladesh, within the next one year.
The Plan 2000 also comprises of new courses to be offered at the Centres, introduction of distance learning of software skills and launching of a new franchise model for learning Internet skills.
Also on the anvil are plans to launch a knowledge portal, knowledgepub.com, which will provide a spectrum of knowledge services, including distance learning, on-line seminars, workshops and industry meets on topical industry and technical issues.
Mr. Dasgupta said the company was now in the process of setting up a full-fledged marketing base in Delhi and Bangalore and planned to grow its international businesses by setting up two additional offices in the US in the current year.
Established in 1997, the company is likely to end the current fiscal with a turnover of Rs. 21.54 crores. During 2000-01, GTL hopes to increase the turnover to Rs 38.75 crores.
