Apollo Hospitals has registered a net profit of ₹92 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016, up 3 per cent, against ₹89.55-crore in the quarter last year.

The standalone revenue rose 16 per cent at ₹1,634 crore from ₹1,409 crore for the same period last year. Revenue from healthcare services stood at ₹924 crore for the second quarter against ₹827.73 crore last year. Pharmacy segment reported income of ₹709.93 crore , up 21 per cent compared with ₹582.13 crore last year.

According to a press release, the revenue growth in the healthcare services is primarily due to revenue growth from the hospitals added to the network.

Revenue from Chennai cluster grew from ₹71 crore last year to ₹74 crore in the first-half of FY17. Hyderabad cluster and Bengaluru region grew about 13 per cent and 21 per cent, respectively. Among new hospitals Vizag, OMR, Tiruchi and Karappakam are showing positive trends, while Nellore will take time to pick up.

Medical rehab space

The company will focus on augmenting resources and doctor pool in these locations to break even, the report stated.

Recently, Apollo Hospitals ventured into medical rehabilitation space in equal partnership with Italy-based post-acute care service provider KoS group and commissioned its first 64-bed medical rehabilitation facility in Hyderabad.

A 480-bed hospital in Navi Mumbai will be commissioned on November 14. It is expected to take the overall bed capacity to 10,000. There will be a 30 per cent increase in capacity with the addition of over 2,500 beds over the last three years.
