Bitzer India Pvt Ltd, an arm of German refrigeration and air-conditioning systems provider Bitzer, will be expanding its service network in India.
The global service network, which has been christened Green Point Service Centre, would be launched in Kolkata in April and Chandigarh next year. “We will be investing €4 lakh in this endeavour. After this we will also focus on other States,’’ Harvinder Bhatia, Country General Manager, Bitzer India, told newspersons here on Wednesday.
These centres will be completely owned and operated by Bitzer. Last year it opened service centres in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.
In business, Bitzer is targeting the cold food supply chain as it sees a good market for energy-efficient compressors. With the Government offering subsidies on setting up of cold chains, there could be an increase in the number of new cold storage facilities, he said.
According to a Planning Commission panel report, the requirement for cold storage was estimated at 61 million tonnes as against availability of just 29 million tonnes, he added.
