Essar Power Gujarat Ltd (EPGL) on Tuesday announced 23 per cent more electricity generation at its 1,200-MW Salaya Power Plant during 2014-15. With 63 per cent plant load factor, the company generated 6,609 million units of electricity, which was 23 per cent higher than the previous year.
The Essar Power subsidiary also improved the plant load factor at the plant by 11 per cent. It also maintained electricity supply to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) at 80 per cent for the second consecutive year. Electricity supply in September 2014 stood at 98 per cent, which was highest ever, a company statement said.
Power off-take by GUVNL during 2014-15 was 21 per cent higher than in 2013-14. Further, the company witnessed a sharp surge in merchant sales at 411 million units, an increase of 89 per cent over the previous year.
