Kolkata-headquartered Eveready Industries India Ltd (EIIL), the country’s largest dry cell battery maker, forayed into air purifiers segment on Wednesday.
Two models of air purifiers were launched under the brand name 'Eveready Appliances'.
According to a release issued by the company, the two models have been specifically designed for Indian conditions and will be available on e- retail, modern retail as well as traditional stores.
“The air purifier market in India is at a nascent stage and we plan to target 5 per cent – 10 per cent market share,” Amritanshu Khaitan, Managing Director, Eveready Industries, said.
Eveready has already put in place 133 authorised service centres across India, he said, adding that a dedicated call centre has also been set up to register and service customer complaints.
Market sources estimate the air purifier market in India to be around Rs 120 crore, with a near 35 per cent annual growth rate.
