Honeywell India wants to expand its presence and engagement with Indian companies in the growing defence and aerospace sectors.
Both investments and manpower are expected to grow in the short-term.
In addition to its long standing partnership with HAL, Honeywell had forged a major tie-up with the Tatas in 2014 to make products for the defence sector.
“This agreement will be broadened. Similarly, collaborations with more companies will be firmed up,” said Anant Maheswari, India President.
The company, with revenues and exports of $1 billion from India, aims to grow double digit.
It has over 15,000 people in seven manufacturing units in five States and five development centres spread in different regions with different expertise, he told newspersons here today on the sidelines of the launch of a safe water initiative.
Honeywell is also discussing with the Telangana Government for a bigger role in the aerospace park and tie-ups with companies here for the sourcing of components and engineering services, especially software for emerging areas in defence, he added.
The company has an Engineering Centre in Hyderabad with around 1,200 people.
There is scope for expansion in the three broad areas of aerospace, scanners & mobility devices and oil & gas where the company has strong presence here.
The Tatas already have huge presence with manufacturing units in Hyderabad.
At present, Honeywell’s collaborations are mainly in the areas of navigation & propulsion with Indian companies in the defence sector.
