Construction and infrastructure major Shapoorji Pallonji, which has been awarded a contract for the construction of a mixed use development by Abu Dhabi-based property developer Bloom Properties, has reached the penultimate stage of construction at the 25-storey, twin-tower complex.
Bloom Central in Abu Dhabi is set to house two properties managed and operated by Marriott International, which is the five-star 315-room Abu Dhabi Marriott Hotel and the 64-key Marriott Executive Apartment. The project also features more than 7,000 square metres of office space.
The Shapoorji Pallonji Group is a highly diversified conglomerate, and one of India’s oldest construction companies.
The India-based engineering and construction firm Shapoorji Pallonji International has bagged many leading properties in the Gulf region.
Last year, the company had bagged a residential development project in Dubai, to build 348 four-bedroom townhouses and other amenities.
The handovers of the properties are due to begin mid-2014, said people in the know. In February this year, Shapoorji Pallonji Middle East was appointed as the main contractor for a new medical centre to be based in Dubai Healthcare City.
As Chief Executive Officer of Shapoorji Pallonji International Mohan Dass Saini noted the Group had built the first hospital in the UAE in 1980 in Abu Dhabi.
The company's project portfolio includes the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr hotel in Abu Dhabi, the Marriot Hotel Abu Dhabi which is set for completion in 2014, the Sultan Qaboos Palace in Muscat, Damac’s Park Towers in Dubai and the Barwa City Amenities Zone in Doha.
With independent operating companies in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Oman, Shapoorji Pallonji has a group turnover of over $2.5 billion.
