Tata Motors has launched Buszone, an exclusive dealership for its buses, to tap the growing demand for buses.

It is natural that the company opens the first Buszone in Chennai as it is the “home of long-distance bus transport,” said Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Business Unit, Tata Motors.

The automobile manufacturer is strengthening its bus range, he said, with the unveiling of new-look buses in the light and intermediate segments soon and launch of luxury vehicles.

Addressing mediapersons at the formal launch of the dealership here recently, he said the objective is not to just sell but to back up sales with service. “Service is going to get us sales,” he said.

Chennai is a ‘progressive market’ for buses and South India generally has a strong bus transport system.

The Buszone comes with service facilities, automatic bus wash, a first of its kind again, and a service van.

The first half of the current year was positive for the bus market with total sales of buses spanning light, intermediate and medium segments increasing 21 per cent to 35,884 units over the comparable period last year.

Tata Motors has also filled some gaps in its offerings with the launch of 150 HP and 180 HP buses for the inter-city services segment, he said.
