The Chennai-based TVS Motor Company on Monday said it expects to finalise a partnership with BMW for collaboration in two-wheelers before the end of this fiscal.

The company, through this partnership, would gain access to technology for introducing high-end motorcycles.

“Talks are on (with BMW) and we expect something to materialise before the end of the ongoing fiscal,” President (Marketing) H. S. Goindi, TVS Motor Company, said.

However, he declined to comment on the details of the proposed partnership with the German company.

Meanwhile, TVS has launched Phoenix — its latest model in the 125 CC range, priced between Rs 49,990 and Rs 52,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

“The overall executive motorcycle segment is about four lakh units a month and we want a share of five-seven per cent,” Goindi said.

He said in overall sales, the company is aiming to sell around 20,000 units of the Phoenix, adding that it would also start exporting the model from February.

The company is targeting urban customers with the Phoenix 125, which it claims would deliver a mileage of 67 kmpl.

The new motorcycle would compete with Hero MotoCorp’s Glamour, Bajaj Auto’s Discover and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s Shine.
