As northern India reels under a severe cold wave, Welspun Energy Ltd has distributed thousands of blankets to those living in open spaces to help them fight the biting cold.
The poorer sections of the society, those living on the streets, especially the ill, elderly and children are the ones most affected by the severe cold conditions.
“Empathising with their struggle, Welspun Energy (WEL) has distributed blankets at various places in the northern part of the country, especially in places where WEL has its projects and to those living in open spaces near the New Delhi railway station, bus stands and outside hospitals,” the firm said in a press statement here.
In the next three days, WEL will be distributing blankets among communities, located in the vicinity of its 130 MW solar project site in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. A similar activity will be undertaken in Rawra and Kanesar villages in Rajasthan.
“Welspun Energy believes that it is every organisation’s responsibility to empower those around it by implementing prompt and necessary actions. With this initiative and many others Welspun Energy is systematically working to empower multitudes at all locations where it is present,” it said.
Company co-founder Vineet Mittal, “At Welspun Energy, we try our hardest to work with local communities to bring a positive change in their lives. This initiative is one in the line of many”.
