Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd today reported 36.88 per cent jump in total two-wheeler sales at 64,997 units in December 2013 as compared to 47,483 units in the same month of the previous year.
Domestic sales grew by 58.32 per cent at 39,777 units as against 25,123 units in the same month previous year, the company said in a statement.
In the export markets, the company sold 25,220 units last month, compared to 22,360 units in December 2012 – up 12.79 per cent, it added.
For entire 2013, the company said it clocked total sales of 6,51,487 units compared to 4,86,810 units in 2012, up 33.82 per cent.
Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd Vice President (Sales & Marketing) Roy Kurian said: “Despite industry travails, 2013 was an excellent year for us and we are certainly pleased with our performance this year.”
Apart from new scooter launches, the robust results can be attributed to the company’s strong product portfolio and steadfast customer confidence, he added.
“We’re looking at further expanding our dealership network across India as well as enhance our customer care services. The future definitely seems exciting and we look forward to improving our performance in 2014 as well,” Kurian said.
