The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has proposed to organise a buyer-seller meet at Montevideo, Uruguay and Santiago, Chile between March 13 and 18 with 15 exhibitors in each venue.
The Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Commerce has approved funding under the Market Development Scheme for the Uruguay and Chile meet, an AEPC release said.
Eligible participants would receive grant under the Market Development Assistance Scheme up to a maximum of ₹1.80 lakhs, the release said and pointed out that exhibitors with export turnover of ₹10 lakhs and ₹30 crore during the preceding three years would be eligible for the grant.
Urging exporters to take advantage of this opportunity, the Council has said that it would also try and fix up meetings with buyers according to the product range of the exhibitors and the demand from the visiting buyers at Chile.
There is huge potential for exporting readymade garments to Uruguay and Chile. It had taken a beating the last two years, but there is huge scope for penetrating into these markets, the Council said in a bid to encourage participation.
Highlighting the DISHA (Driving Industry towards Sustainable Human Capital Advancement) initiative mooted by the Ministry of Textiles, the Council said “this global benchmark for social compliance in apparel manufacturing and export would help exhibitors avail the MDA grant”.
