Azad Moopen, Director, NORKA Rootsm has expressed concern over sidelining the NRI community in the Budget saying that there is hardly anything to cheer about for Non-Resident Indians.
It seems the new government has not given any importance to this very potential group. The unleashing of NRI fiscal power would have added strength to the hands of Finance Minister, he said.
From healthcare point of view, the budget should have outlined a roadmap for comprehensive inclusive solutions. The allocation of ₹500 crore for new AIIMS in four states is a good sign, Moopen, who is also the CMD of Aster DM Healthcare, said.
The budget has disregarded the demands on increasing GDP allocation on healthcare. India with a dismal 2 per cent GDP spend is one among the lowest among emerging in healthcare expenses. It is important that this should be increased to at least 4 per cent, he said.
