The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for constituting an autonomous body called the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA).

The new agency will be created by subsuming the Prime Minister’s National Council on Skill Development, the National Skill Development Corporation Board and the officer of the Advisor to the Prime Minister on skill development.

The NSDA will coordinate and harmonise the skill development efforts of the Government and the private sector to achieve the skilling targets of the 12th Plan and beyond.

It will also anchor and operationalise the National Skills Qualification Framework and be the nodal agency for sector skills councils.

The Union Cabinet also gave its nod for moving official amendments to the multi-state cooperative societies (amendment) Bill 2010 pending in the Lok Sabha.

The official amendments also proposes to have provision for revival of sick coop societies.
