India’s holdings of American government securities touched a one-year high of $130.3 billion at the end of June, according to official data. The country is the 11th largest holder of these securities.
In the past few months, India has been hiking its exposure to these securities that are issued by the US Treasury Department, while China had the maximum holdings worth $1.147 trillion at the end of June. Among BRIC nations, India has the third largest exposure after China and Brazil, whose holdings stood at $269.7 billion at June end.
