Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) has announced the plans to construct railway siding facility for Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) in Mangaluru.
A press release by KRCL said here on Saturday that the proposed railway siding from Thokur station will help in the transportation of products such as pet coke, polypropylene, sulphur and bitumen from the plant.
After completion, around 2,800 tonnes of products is expected to be transported by railway every day.
There will be two lines of 800 metres each in the railway siding. The project, which is estimated to cost ₹46 crore, will be completed in 24 months, the release added.
